Clean water in Haiti giving hope to the Ministry

Families in Bellanger, Haiti, a community located north of Port-au-Prince are celebrating the opening of a new well providing clean water to the entire community. Personnel from the Haiti Water Project, a ministry of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM), recently visited the town to find that their only source of water, a hand-dug well, had stopped producing water after the January 12 earthquake.  Since then, residents have been forced to purchase water for drinking - when they can afford it.

It is not hard to understand why one in eight children will not reach his or her fifth birthday in Haiti. Since water is so expensive, children, usually the ones responsible for the task of retrieving water, must find water for activities like bathing in a nearby stream. This stream is also where trash ends up and where cattle are watered. Contaminates easily find their way into children's little bodies which have not yet had the opportunity to build a strong immune system.

Just recently another well was finished in Petit Goave, a small community located along the coast west of Port-au-Prince. The Haiti Water Project is able to provide clean water resources like wells and cisterns through the generosity of people around the world. Approximately half of the 9.5 million people living in Haiti do not even have access to clean water.

but this fact is changing as individuals get involved with programs such as the Haiti Water Project. (Written from Holiness Today, July-Aug 2010 edition)

Just an update on what's happening around Zephyrhills/Wesley Chapel.

As I stated before we now taping the services and they can be requested by e-mailing the church e-mail address and we will see that we forward the attachment to you .

We have been maintaining attendance to around 40 which is good for the summer months but we plan on increasing those numbers. We had 2 families leave for their northern address for a month or so and another family this week. It is not surprising though that we had 3 visitors come for the morning service. God is working in our services.

We are still planning on our ladies meeting the 3rd Friday of every month at The Village Inn in Zephyrhills, FL.  We meet at 12:00 noon  If you have not been to our Church you are still invited to meet with us. We have a great time and are looking for others to join us. PLEASE DO!!

We are sorry to announce a longtime member passed away this past week. Virginia Terrill passed away. Virginia had been a resident at Heartland Assisted Living in Zephyrhills for the past several years. Our prayers go to her family and friends. Virginia is now at peace with her heavenly Father.

Church of the Nazarene, Central Florida District Supt. Dr. Larry Dennis writes in "Reflecting God", a daily devotional guide, these words Heb 4:1-10

There was a time not too long ago when the word "Sabbath" had a much different meaning. It was a welcomed day. With Sunday School,  a stirring worship service punctuated with an alter call; Sunday dinner around the family table featuring pot roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh sliced tomatoes and homemade coconut cake. In the afternoon for the adults, it was a nap,  for the kids, a leisurely day of play outside. Early evening called us back to church for "singspiration" and the evangelistic service.

As children we know it was different. Unlike the other six,  it was a day set aside for the Lord. This welcomed day was usually stress free, no heavy schedules or appointments, no little league or shopping. Even the kids understood that "Sabbath" meant rest and renewal.

The writer of Hebrews compares the Sabbath to a life entirely sanctified to God. Jesus reminds us that when hearts, minds, souls, and strengths are totally surrendered to Him, we experienced a peace that passes understanding. In the midst of our hectic, demanding, pressure filled lives-through Christ's death, resurrection and indwelling presence, "There remains, then a Sabbath-rest for the people of God.

We have been experiencing the spirit of the Lord in our services. This past week the church held VBS and with Kathy's leading and Gary and Mary having invited the Day Care we ended up with over 55 children. Our members were right there with a helping hand.  Today in the morning service the children had a program which they put on for the church and it was enjoyed by all. After the morning message there was hot dogs  and chips for the kids and families and also for anyone else that attended the morning servive and enjoyed "Rolled Steak".

We are missing you all and you are always in our prayers. We look forward to our Northern snowbirds coming back in the fall and we are praying that there are those individuals that are looking for a church or are looking "for something" that is missing in there lives. Please, if you read this,  then God,  we pray is directing you.

God Bless you all!!
