August 29th 2007

Well, I just got home from Wednesday prayer meeting. What a great night. While we only had 10 in attendance the Lord was with us. Pastor Paul played some hymns on his guitar and we sang along, Granted, it does sound better with more voices but I thought we did pretty good. We had a visitor drop in looking for the Spanish Church, we informed Pedro that the Spanish Church met on a different night but we asked him to join us. Pedro stayed and offered up his testimony. While Pedro speeks a little broken English the Lord gets the message back to us that Pedro has been touched by the Lord. There are many prayer needs, The pastors Family and in-laws need prayer.Katherine Kolb who has not been feeling well and there were many more. You are really missing out when you don't make it on Wednesday nights. We sang, talked, message, talked, prayed until 8:30pm or later, but the time flies when the Lord is present.

Sunday we had 38 in church, 10 more than the week before. Another great day and message. Curtis had a good group of children. Things are happening at Wesley's Reef and Wesley Chapel. Come and get involved!

I am hoping we will eventually get a chat line where we can request prayer and have some good healthy discussions.

Snowbirds, hurry back.

There are but three steps to heaven,- out of self, into Christ, into Glory. Rowland Hill

GOOD-A party of engineers became lost in a forest in Africa. Their supply of food was exhausted. They found some berries which seemed to perfectly satisfy the appetite, They ate them for several days, but became weaker and weaker, and one after another died, until when help came there was only one left to tell the sad story. They still had some berries left, but when they were analyzed they were found to be absolutely worthless as a food. While their appetites were satisfied they were actually starving to death. Many people are like that-perfectly satisfied to starve their nature on food which is of no value, while they might feast on the "true bread from Heaven."--Miller

Sorry folks for a delay in what is happening at Wesley Chapel Nazarene Church.

Rebekah is back and is busy as ever. She keeps close tabs on her Dad. Her Dad is stable at this time. We need to keep him in our prayers as well as the whole Burdick family. Please continue a daily prayer.

We are happy to have Craig and Janet with us. Craig is quite the musician, he can sing and play the guitar, and they raise sheltie dogs. They are an asset to the church. Welcome to you both. If you are members of WCCN then be sure to welcome them.

Guess who is back...Yep, Fred and Gladys are back home and already involved in the happenings of the church.

Marion Dice made it back this past Friday after about 3 months in New York visiting with her family. Welcome back Marion.

It was nice to see the McIntyres back in church. They had a good trip to Branson but do not intend to be moving there. A little too crowded and hilly.

Today we had a pot luck lunch after  the morning service. The church provided the hot dogs and hamburger, & buns. We had a very nice time and all had enough food to eat. We will be having another potluck next Sunday after the morning service as we have hamburg and hotdogs left over. We will also be providing chicken. Please bring your favorite dish and join us next Sunday.

God has been good to us these past few weeks with a good message being presented by Pastor Paul with Gods hand on every word.

Curtis is doing well with Junior Church at Wesley's Reef. The kids love him as do the church members. Continue on with your great work Curtis. Bless you and your helpers!

We are seeing some leaks in the ceiling, noticed them Wednesday night after a very hard rain. We all need to be praying on what we need to do with our leaking roof and minimal funds. God answers all prayer, so let us turn to HIM, and let HIM talk to us.

We had Brandon, the Pastors son with us this morning playing the drums, and Pastor Paul on the guitar singing and accompanied by Rebekah on the piano.

Bethani was also there, Rebekah's daughter who will be leaving for Mexico to do Missionary work. Bethani will be there for 6-7 months. We need to pray for Bethani that God will use her for HIS purpose in leading folks to Christ and helping in anyway possible. Bethani also needs our financial support plus a letter of encourgement from you.

If you can help in that area please write a check:

Rebekah will forward it on to the Missions Director.

THE OLD PATHS
I liked the old paths, when
Moms were at home.

Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!

Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.

Moms could cook;
Dads would work;
Children would behave.

Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.

Women wore the jewelry;
And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent

People loved the truth,
And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN,
Not to get OUT!

Hymns sounded Godly;
Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal;
And crying sounded sincere.

Cursing was wicked;
Drinking was evil;
and divorce was unthinkable.

The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!

We read the Bible in public;
Prayed in school;
To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!

Sex was a personal word.
Homosexual was an unheard of word,
And abortion was an illegal word.

Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible;
Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

A new birth meant a new life;
Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ led to eternal life.

Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

Laws were based on the Bible;
Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.

Preachers were more interested in new converts,
Than new clothes and new cars.
God was worshiped;
Christ was exalted;
and the Holy Spirit was respected.

Church was where you found Christians
on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden,
on the creek bank, on the golf course,
or being entertained somewhere else.

I still like the old paths the best !

"AND GOD SAID...."

I said, "God, I hurt."
And God said, I know."

I said, "God, I cry a lot."
And God said, "That is why I gave you tears."

I said, "God, I am so depressed."
And God said, "That is why I gave you Sunshine."

I said, "God, life is so hard."
And God said, "That is why I gave you loved ones."

I said, "God, my loved one died."
And God said, "So did mine."

I said, "God, it is such a loss."
And God said, I saw mine nailed to a cross."

I said, "God, but your loved one lives."
And God said, "So does yours."

I said, "God, where are they now?"
And God said, "Mine is on My right and yours is in the Light."

I said, "God, it hurts."
And God said, I know."

Pastor's wife, Rebekah, flew home to Ohio to be bedside with her Father who is very ill. They have diagnosed cancer in his colon, and he is suffering from other complications as well. We covet your prayers as the immediate family has been called in to minister to a man that has given his life in ministry. He told Rebekah, "All I want is, the Word of God to be manifest in my body."

Your prayers are greatly appreciated as the family trusts in the Word of the Lord now, more than ever. The Word of God IS TRUE.

You might ask how the VBS did last week. I happened to stop in on Monday (1st day) and there was plenty of action and children. I do believe there were about 50 children plus the helpers. Everyone was excited by Wesleys Reef. It was really cute and the kids got soooo excited. I hear it was a very active week. You have to remember that this was the first, so it takes some fine tuning and we ought to be all set for next year.

A BIG thank has to go out to Mary & Gary and their staff from Little Peoples Christian Daycare, plus some young folks from Tampa First Church.

Again Pastor Paul put a lot into this as did Curtis (who the kids love).

Sunday topped it off with a service dedicated to the closing of 2007 VBS and certificates and prizes were given out. Pastor Paul delivered a great message to all 68 folks in attendance. It was quite nice to have so many here during the summer.

A BIG thank you to all that helped and participated in making this VBS a success.

***********************************************************

Just a bug in your ear....I hear that Pastor Paul and Rebekah are moving to Wesley Chapel this week. There will be no Wednesday night service as this is their moving day. So...if you are not busy, give a call and see if you can't help out with their move.

It will be nice having them closer to the church.

May God Bless You All and a prayer for you all to have a glorious Week.

See you on Sunday !!
